The Optimist
Club of Washington awards scholarships to area seniors each year. One scholarship
is named in memory for Mr. Earl
Mitchell who contributed greatly to the club, community and its purpose. Another
scholarship is named for Mr. Linley Gibbs, honoring him for his
work and continued contributions to the club and our community.
Other scholarships
are Youth Appreciation Scholarships which are given to students
who exemplified community service and contribution.
Applicants
are required to have participated in school sports or any of the
Optimist Club's sports programs and have a GPA of 2.50 or higher.
A copy of the
application may be downloaded.
Applications
are received from February 1st until April 29 each year. Instructions
are included on the application. Application must be
postmarked April 29th or earlier to be eligible.
